# Instagram

> Connect your Instagram to Fondaro, reply to leads' direct messages and look up a lead's public business profile.

Connect your Instagram and direct messages from your leads, including replies to your stories, show on each lead, and you reply from Fondaro. Each person connects their own account.

## Connect your Instagram

1. Open **Settings › Me › Inboxes** and choose **Connect Instagram** under **Social**.
2. Check the line under **Price** and select **Connect**.
3. Sign in to Instagram. If Instagram asks you to confirm it is you, do it in the Instagram app.
4. The page reads **Connecting** for a few seconds, then shows your account.

## Message a lead

A lead gets an **Instagram** tab on their conversation once their account is linked to them. When someone new writes to you, open the conversation in your [Inbox](https://www.fondaro.com/docs/dashboard/inbox.md) and choose **Add as lead**, or **Link to lead** for a lead you already have. Your earlier chat with them comes in too, and from then on their messages land on the lead.

Instagram doesn't let Fondaro edit or delete a message once it is sent. Do that in the Instagram app.

## Look up a lead's profile

On a lead with a linked Instagram business account, select **Look up** in the lead's rail. It reads their public business profile once (name, category, and a public email or phone if they list one). Nothing is saved unless you choose **Add as the lead's email** or **Add as the lead's phone**. Instagram allows about 10 look-ups an hour.

## Stay within Instagram's rules

Instagram does not officially support linked business tools, and heavy or automated use can lock an account. So you send every message yourself, one person at a time, at least 10 seconds apart and up to 10 an hour. Fondaro never follows, likes or comments for you.

## What Fondaro keeps

Your conversations with leads, and messages from people who are not leads yet while you decide. Everything else in your direct messages is never stored.

## Price and disconnecting

Instagram counts as one inbox. See [Inboxes](https://www.fondaro.com/docs/dashboard/integrations/connected-accounts.md#price). To stop, choose **Disconnect** from its row's **⋮** menu. Conversations already on your leads stay.
