# WhatsApp

> Link your WhatsApp to Fondaro, message leads from the lead's conversation, and see the limits that protect your number.

Link your WhatsApp and your chats with leads show on each lead, and you reply from Fondaro. It works with personal WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business. Each person links their own number.

## Link your WhatsApp

1. Open **Settings › Me › Inboxes** and choose **Connect WhatsApp** under **Messaging**.
2. Check the line under **Price** and select **Connect**. A window with a code opens.
3. On your phone, open WhatsApp, go to **Settings › Linked devices**, select **Link a device** and scan the code.
4. On a phone that can't scan its own screen, choose to link with a phone number instead in WhatsApp, and type the code the window shows.
5. The page reads **Connecting** for a few seconds, then shows your number.

Keep your phone online now and then. If it stays offline for long, WhatsApp ends the link and the page asks you to **Reconnect**.

## Message a lead

1. Open the lead's conversation, on the lead page or in the [Inbox](https://www.fondaro.com/docs/dashboard/inbox.md).
2. Choose the **WhatsApp** tab. **To** is the lead's number, **From** is yours.
3. Type your message and select **Send** (`⌘ Enter`, or `Ctrl+Enter` on Windows).

You can attach up to 3 files, from your documents or your computer (**Insert**, then **Attach file**). Under your latest message, its status reads **Sent**, **Delivered** or **Read**.

## Fix or delete a message

Made a typo? Point at a message you sent from Fondaro, select **⋯**, then:

- **Edit**: change the text and select **Save**, or press `Enter`. You can edit for 15 minutes after sending, and the message shows **edited** for both of you.
- **Delete for everyone**: confirm, and it is removed from their chat too. You can do this for about two days after sending.

When you edit or delete a message on your phone, or the lead deletes one of theirs, the lead shows that too.

On the lead you also see:

- messages you wrote on your phone,
- voice notes, with a transcript for notes up to 2 minutes,
- photos and files (select **Save to documents** to keep one on the lead),
- a missed WhatsApp call.

## Stay within WhatsApp's rules

WhatsApp does not officially support linked business tools, and heavy or automated use can get a number restricted. Fondaro keeps your use looking like you, because it is you:

- **You send every message.** Ask Fondaro can draft one; you read it and press **Send**. Nothing goes out on a schedule or in bulk.
- **One person at a time.** No broadcasts and no groups.
- **Paced.** Messages from one number go out at least 15 seconds apart; a faster one waits and shows when it goes out.
- **Spread out new chats.** Starting chats with lots of new people in one day is what WhatsApp watches most. Fondaro never holds a first message back, but after a busy day the composer reminds you to spread them out.

If WhatsApp restricts your number, sending stops and the composer says so. **Reconnect** starts again from the linking step.

## What Fondaro keeps

Your chats with leads, and messages from people who are not leads yet while you decide (up to 14 days). Everything else on your WhatsApp is never stored.

## Price and disconnecting

WhatsApp counts as one inbox. See [Inboxes](https://www.fondaro.com/docs/dashboard/integrations/connected-accounts.md#price). To stop, choose **Disconnect** from its row's **⋮** menu, or remove Fondaro under **Linked devices** on your phone. Chats already on your leads stay.
